Go to Control Panel > System and click on Advanced System Settings.
Then click on Settings in the Performance box.
Finally click on the Data Execution Prevention tab and click Add on the bottom. Find the exe for Shrink and add it to the list.
This works on Windows Server 2003 too - thanks! The symptom is different though: no error popup, the program simply doesn't start. Nothing is recorded in the error logs. I expect this is also what would happen if you enabled DEP on Windows XP with the /NoExecute=OptOut boot.ini switch.
DVD Shrink is a brilliant program - thanks again. Is anyone thinking of writing an Ubuntu port? I am a PC technician and am trying to persuade as many as possible to take the plunge - the water's lovely, no nasty jellyfish, and Ubuntu has applications galore besides OpenOffice, but sadly no DVD Shrink...
